Chelsea will not have to pay £24m to sacked manager Rosenior

Following Liam Rosenior’s brutally swift exit from Stamford Bridge this week, the rumour mill went into absolute overdrive.

Social media was full of reports that the tactician was walking away with a historic £24 million golden handshake.

However, according to respected journalist Ben Jacobs, the actual financial reality of Rosenior’s departure is vastly different from the sensationalised headlines.

Chelsea do not owe Rosenior hefty pay package

It’s incredibly easy to see exactly why that massive £24 million figure started circulating in the press.

Just a few months ago in January, the BlueCo ownership proudly handed Rosenior a mammoth six-and-a-half-year contract, supposedly tying him down to the West London project until the summer of 2032.

Naturally, when a club pulls the plug on a deal of that length after a mere 23 matches in charge, fans expect a monumental financial penalty.

But Jacobs has firmly poured cold water on those wild suggestions, reporting that the final severance package is “nowhere near” that astronomical amount.
