King Charles has met legendary Ibiza DJ Carl Cox as he braved the rain at a star-studded garden party that was also attended by Helen Mirren and Ant and Dec. 

The event is being held at Buckingham Palace this afternoon to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Charles’ charity, The King’s Trust.

The 77-year-old monarch donned a light grey two-piece suit and a blue and purple-patterned tie as he shook hands with and chatted to a number of celebs. 

Among the stars the King met were Ant and Dec, who are ambassadors for the charity and Dame Helen Mirren, who was sporting a cast on her wrist prompting Charles to ask with concern: ‘Are you alright?’

‘No, I’m fine. I’ve broke my wrist,’ she said.

She also congratulated him on his recent State Visit to the United States, saying: ‘Big, big congratulations on America. I’m sure you have had many responses. 

‘The Americans responded immensely… admiration, love….’

The King signalled the start of the garden party by descending the steps of Buckingham Palace with the help of an umbrella. 

He stood to attention while the national anthem, God Save the King, played over the loudspeakers.

The celebratory garden party comes after the King met Sir Idris Elba for the second time in three days this morning as they joined students taking part in musical theatre workshops.

The monarch went on a trip to the Other Palace Theatre in London with the Luther actor to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT).

Sir Idris, 53, used a grant from the Prince’s Trust – now the King’s Trust – to attend NYMT aged 18 before rising to become one of Britain’s most famous stars.

Today, they met students taking part in workshops at the Off West End venue, designed to give young people opportunities and experiences in musical theatre.

The youngsters from Core Education Trust schools in Birmingham participated in workshops to help their confidence and performing skills, including improvisation.

The King and Sir Idris also met some of NYMT’s most experienced young performers, who are now receiving training at drama schools or working professionally.

Charles cut a cake for the 50th anniversary of NYMT and joined a group photo with the young people before taking a seat together with Sir Idris to watch a performance.

And on Monday, Charles was joined by his wife Camilla at the Royal Albert Hall for another event to celebrate half a century of The King’s Trust. 

The charity, which was founded by Charles in 1976, supports young people aged 11 to 30 with education, training, and finding jobs. 

On arrival at the Royal Albert Hall, Charles and Camilla were introduced to King’s Trust Ambassadors and their hosts for the evening, Ant and Dec.

The couple then schmoozed with the Clooneys – with lawyer Amal telling Charles she was ‘proud and grateful’ to be involved in the charity.

Meanwhile, George looked blown away as he shook the monarch’s hand before placing his own on his heart, saying: ‘What can I say? Thank you for inviting me. We very much appreciate it. Thank you.’

In one of the more eye-catching moments of the royal calendar, Queen Camilla – dressed in an electric blue lace evening dress with a purple cape over her shoulders – chatted with the Clooneys about make-up.

Seemingly admiring Amal’s glittering look, which complemented her shimmering gold evening gown, she told her that it was by Charlotte Tilbury, with Camilla, apparently a fellow Tilbury fan, chatting animatedly as George nodded his head in agreement.

Fellow guest Tilbury, who founded the billion-pound brand, confirmed she was both responsible for Amal’s make-up and that the Queen wore her products too.

‘Yes she does darling,’ she said. ‘Pillow Talk [her best-selling lipstick] isn’t the number one selling lipstick in the world for nothing!’
