Tottenham Hotspur are set to travel to Stamford Bridge to take on city rivals Chelsea in a crucial Premier League encounter this evening.
After avoiding relegation on the final day last term, the Lilywhites splashed a huge amount of money this summer to reinforce the squad and help Roberto De Zerbi achieve success this season.
However, Spurs endured a dire start before finding the first league victory against Coventry City last weekend. They are languishing 17th in the table with six points from seven matches.
On the other hand, Chelsea have enjoyed a bright start under new manager Xabi Alonso’s guidance, sitting fourth in the table with 13 points from seven games.
Team news
After recovering from his recent fitness problems, James Maddison started against Coventry and scored an excellent goal but is in doubt for this fixture. After remaining sidelined with a lengthy knee problem, Dejan Kulusevski returned to action last weekend.
However, Lucas Bergvall, Savio and Destiny Udogie aren’t available to be involved today due to their respective fitness problems. Moreover, Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended. The good news is that Pedro Porro is ready to feature this weekend after recovering from his injury.
Predicted line-up
Antonin Kinsky is likely to keep hold of his place in goal, while Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky Van de Ven should be the centre-back pairing for the Lilywhites.
Porro could start in the right-back position, and Andrew Robertson might be on the opposite side. In that case, Marcos Senesi and Ben Davies would be among the substitutes.
Sandro Tonali is expected to be the defensive midfielder and Archie Gray should commence alongside the Italian in the engine room. Conor Gallagher may start in the creative midfield position if Maddison can’t feature. So, Mateus Fernandes would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Omar Marmoush is likely to be on the left flank, while Mohammed Kudus would be on the opposite side. Dominic Solanke is set to lead the line for the North London club. Therefore, Mathys Tel and Kulusevski may feature as substitutes.
