Enzo Maresca set to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

After months of uncertainty in the matter, multiple reports have broken claiming Pep Guardiola will leave his position as the Manchester City manager at the end of the season. The name that has been mentioned the most in terms of a potential replacement is Enzo Maresca, and according to Fabrizio Romano, City have already reached a full agreement on an initial three-year contract with the former Chelsea boss.

It is certainly the end of an era at City. This summer will mark exactly a decade since the Catalan tactician arrived at the Etihad, and he has won 20 trophies in that time, including six Premier League titles (a seventh is still not ruled out at this point), three FA Cups, five League Cups, three Charity Shields, and the trio consisting of the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Maresca spent a season managing City’s Under-23 side, and after a short spell as the head coach at Parma, returned to the Etihad as Guardiola’s assistant. He managed Leicester City in 2023-24 and moved on to Chelsea the following summer, completing 18 months in the Stamford Bridge dugout before leaving the job at the start of this year. He has been out of work since.
