Eddie Hearn picks a winner in Moses Itauma vs ‘world class’ Hrgovic

Eddie Hearn has shared his verdict ahead of the upcoming heavyweight battle between Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic.

After a long period of speculation over whether or not the bout would take place, it was finally confirmed this week that the two men will collide at the O2 Arena in London on August 29.

Itauma is back in action following his fifth round knockout win over Jermaine Franklin at the Co-Op Live in Manchester back in March, while Hrgovic comes off a stoppage win of his own after overcoming Dave Allen inside three rounds at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium in June.

The upcoming clash is set to have big implications for the future of the heavyweight division, and now Matchroom boss Hearn has given his prediction to Pro Boxing Fans, revealing that while he classes Hrgovic as world class, he thinks Itauma will have too much for the Croatian.

“I think Hrgovic is a world class heavyweight. Is he elite? I think he’s close to it. There was one stage I think he was really close to it.

“He’s going to fight Itauma now. I think it’s a good fight. I think Moses will be much too sharp for him but I think it’s a proper challenge and Moses’ first real test.”

If Itauma is victorious against Hrgovic it would move him one step closer to a crack at world honours, and he has revealed he would be open to an all-British world title showdown with one man in particular next year.
