Rather than further trimming the squad, they are now “determined to keep the bulk of their squad together”. For Brentford, that changes the complexion of the pursuit significantly.

Brentford’s admiration is understandable. Malick Diouf produced an encouraging first campaign in claret and blue, delivering five assists in 32 Premier League appearances. The report notes that his “crossing ability caught the eye”, a quality that would appeal to any side seeking greater thrust from wide areas.
