Vasiliy Lomachenko is reportedly inching closer towards making his comeback after it was revealed earlier this year that he would step out of retirement.
The Ukrainian called time on his glittering career in 2024, not long after claiming the IBF lightweight title with an 11th-round stoppage of George Kambosos Jr.
By that point, he was coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Devin Haney but had already become a three-division world champion, as well as a two-time Olympic gold medallist in the amateur code.
But despite having cemented his legacy as one of the modern greats, Lomachenko has identified now as an opportune time to return to the sport.
This is partly because his promotional deal with Top Rank expired earlier this year, with the 38-year-old now free to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
If he decides to continue working with Bob Arum’s promotional outfit, though, then Lomachenko could be offered a clash with the winner of Emanuel Navarrete vs O’Shaquie Foster.
Their super-featherweight unification match takes place on October 24 and, already, WBC champion Foster has expressed his interest in facing ‘The Matrix’.
Before exploring that potential contest, however, Lomachenko has reportedly told Brian Custer that he will return to his former division of 130lbs in November.

Given his inactivity, the sublime southpaw is unlikely to jump straight back into the deep end but, if he chooses to remain at 130lbs, then the winner of Navarrete-Foster would surely be on his radar.
At the same time, there is a selection of mandatory challengers, including the WBO’s Charly Suarez, who will be expecting their shot at the three world titles.
