Callum Simpson has the chance to avenge the only defeat of his professional career tonight when he faces Troy Williamson for a second time at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
Williamson produced the upset in their first meeting last December, stopping Simpson in the 10th round to claim the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles. Simpson had entered that contest as the favourite and with ambitions of moving towards world level, but instead suffered a damaging first loss after being dragged into a gruelling fight by the experienced and gritty Darlington man, who produced a total of four knockdowns in that final round.
The rematch now offers Simpson an immediate opportunity to put that setback right, while Williamson will look to prove the first result was no one-off and strengthen his own position in the domestic super-middleweight picture.
Both the British and Commonwealth titles will again be on the line, with Williamson defending the belts he took in their first encounter. The card is promoted by BOXXER and marks the start of its new broadcast partnership with DAZN.

A British thriller, with Simpson choosing war rather than the more disciplined approach many felt would win him this rematch. The Barnsley man connected more throughout and fought fire with fire – dangerous for anyone against Williamson. The BN scorecard on paper doesn’t do ‘Trojan’s performance justice, particularly the seventh through ninth, where he rocked Simpson on a few occasions. In fact, Williamson looked dangerous throughout and landed plenty of thudding shots that threatened to turn the fight on its head. Those rounds could be his, but Simpson was always doing enough beforehand to perhaps put him ahead. A typically fan-friendly performance from Williamson, but Simpson took it unanimously, and did it in a way that deserves plenty of credit. Both men have delivered UK fight fans two standout main events, and will be rightly praised for that.
