There has been an acceptance on all sides for some time that this summer was likely to bring a separation. Spurs and Spence had already settled on the broad direction of travel before the World Cup, and Roberto De Zerbi is said to have felt that a transfer represented the cleanest solution for everyone involved.
What matters now is that the process has accelerated. The key development is the player’s stance. Spence has decided to prioritise a move to the Serie A champions, and that has pushed discussions forward to the point where an agreement is described as being close.
Inter Milan move gathers pace

There was no shortage of market awareness around Spence. Several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton, were given the opportunity to sign him.
