The 2026/27 season features several players standing around 5ft 7in. From tactically versatile defenders to creative midfielders and direct wingers, these are some of the shortest established senior players currently competing in the Premier League.

Rico Lewis, Manchester City: 1.69m (5ft 7in)
At approximately 1.69 metres, Rico Lewis is among the shortest established senior players in the 2026/27 Premier League.
The Manchester City defender has never relied on conventional physical dominance. Instead, his game is built around intelligence, mobility and outstanding technical security. Although nominally a full-back, Lewis is comfortable moving into midfield and receiving possession in areas normally occupied by central players.
His low centre of gravity helps him turn quickly and retain control under pressure. He can receive the ball with an opponent nearby, adjust his body position and move possession forward without needing significant space.
There are situations in which his height can present a challenge, particularly when defending crosses at the back post. However, Lewis compensates through anticipation, positioning and an ability to recognise danger before a physical contest develops.
He is an excellent example of how the role of the modern full-back has evolved. Height and aerial strength remain useful, but tactical understanding and comfort in possession can be even more valuable.
