As a player, he was a centre-back with Hoffenheim, but injuries cut his playing career short. That early retirement pushed him into coaching, and he has moved unusually quickly ever since.

Learning in the Red Bull System
Jaissle’s coaching identity was shaped heavily by the Red Bull football network. He worked at RB Leipzig’s academy before moving to Brøndby as an assistant, then returned to the Red Bull environment with Salzburg.
That pathway says a lot about the type of coach Newcastle may be getting. The Red Bull school tends to value aggressive pressing, vertical passing, sharp transitions and energetic young players. It is football based on intensity, but with structure behind it.
For Newcastle, that could feel like a natural continuation of some of Eddie Howe’s best work. Howe’s strongest Newcastle sides were also physical, front-foot and aggressive without the ball.
