Manchester United are still looking to revamp their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window and a midfielder and left back’ remain firmly on their radar with slightly over two weeks to go until Deadline Day.
According to The Athletic, the Red Devils remain keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who has been asked to depart the Bernabeu although the player wants to stay put in the Spanish capital and fight for his place in the team.
United are particularly intrigued by Camavinga because of his versatility as a holding midfielder as well as in a slightly more advanced role, while he has also proven to be a handy left back in the last few seasons at Madrid.
Los Blancos will not force him out of the club as he remains a quality player and a vital part of their setup from squad depth perspective, so Man United would need to make a convincing offer for him. The 23-year-old is valued at £43 million.
An excellent addition to the United squad
With Michael Carrick looking to bring in a left back to compete and potentially take over from Luke Shaw in the longer run, as well as wanting to further build on his depth in midfield after Manuel Ugarte’s injury, Eduardo Camavinga is a solid option.
Camavinga is confident with the ball at his feet and uses his burst of pace to drive the ball forward. His link-up play and distribution of the ball is impressive, whereas he also makes accurate tackles and interceptions to help regain possession.
Real Madrid are looking to offload him because Jose Mourinho’s squad is currently full and no more additions can be made without offloading some names, so with that in mind, the end of the transfer could be crucial in influencing Camavinga’s future.
If Mourinho decides against counting on him in the initial fixtures of the season, Camavinga’s exclusion from Madrid’s plans would become absolutely clear and could compel him to consider joining Manchester United this summer itself.
