Manchester United offered the chance to sign Marc Casado this summer by Barcelona

Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign with an away trip to take on Hull City this weekend. While several new signings are expected to feature in the clash against the newly promoted side, a few more names might follow by the month end.

Spanish source Diario Sport has reported that Manchester United have been presented with an opportunity to sign Marc Casado by Barcelona with the Catalans prepared to sell the La Masia graduate in order to balance their books.

Rodri’s acquisition from Manchester City means Casado is expected to drop further down the pecking order under Hansi Flick, and the best solution for the player and the club would be to go their separate ways in the ongoing transfer window.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Barca were seeking £34 million for Casado’s services earlier in the summer but as they are now looking to move on from him, there might be room to negotiate the Spanish youngster’s asking price.

Casado a solid option for Manchester United

If Manchester United sign Marc Casado from Barcelona, they would be significantly bolstered by the addition of a player who would be a long-term replacement for Casemiro as their number six.

Casado does not have as strong a physical prowess as the Brazilian international, who left the club at the end of last season, but the way he reads the game, his pressing and his man marking help the 22-year-old regain possession effectively in the final third.

Having graduated out of La Masia, Casado is also very comfortable with the ball at his feet and distributes passes nicely from a deeper-lying role. He excels at exchanging the ball with his teammates to retain possession but can also break the lines.

Whether Manchester United can guarantee Casado a starring role at the club remains to be seen, but at £34 million, the Spanish talent would be a terrific addition to the club this summer.
