Manchester United reportedly ‘like’ Arsenal’s versatile youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Since moving to Old Trafford from Southampton, Luke Shaw has struggled with numerous fitness problems. Still, he has continued to be the first-choice left-back.
Last season, the 31-year-old started every Premier League match for United, making two goal contributions and keeping five clean sheets.
Man Utd purchased Patrick Dorgu as a potential long-term replacement for Shaw, but the Dane has been displaying his best as a forward under Michael Carrick.
With Shaw’s existing deal set to expire at the end of this season, United have seemingly started exploring options to sign a new left-back.
Now, on his YouTube channel, Romano states that Man Utd ‘like’ Lewis-Skelly and could make a move if he becomes available over the coming days. However, the 19-year-old doesn’t want to leave the Emirates Stadium and loves the club having come through their youth system.
Lewis-Skelly signed a long-term contract until 2030 last year, meaning Arsenal aren’t in any rush to sell him this summer, with the player valued at around £38m by Transfermarkt.

Lewis-Skelly is a versatile left-footed player. He initially featured as a left-back for Arsenal but has been displaying his best as a midfielder in recent months.
United have decided to revamp the midfield department this summer and have already purchased Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.
Moreover, the 20-time English champions are closing in on a deal to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion. So, United don’t need another midfielder, with Kobbie Mainoo also an option.
So, it is likely that Man Utd see Lewis-Skelly as a left-back option. He is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, the Arsenal star might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services during this offseason.
