Manchester United are being linked with Brazil winger Rayan, and the logic is easy enough to follow. If you are rebuilding a squad with obvious gaps in midfield, attack, left-back and goalkeeping depth, you track elite young talent whenever it becomes available. That does not mean a deal is close. It means the club are doing what they should be doing.
According to Edu Burgos of AS, United are showing serious interest in the Bournemouth winger after his rapid rise for club and country. It is a credible link because the profile fits. He is young, explosive, productive and already comfortable on a big stage with Brazil at the World Cup.

Rayan profile suits Manchester United rebuild
United’s transfer priorities remain centred on the midfield, with Atalanta’s Ederson heavily discussed, but that has never ruled out movement elsewhere. Recruitment does not happen in neat little boxes. If the club believe Rashford’s future could shape the wide areas after the World Cup, then monitoring alternatives is basic planning.
Rayan, described as “deadly”, arrived at Bournemouth for £35m in January and adapted quickly. Five goals and two assists in 15 games is the relevant part. Production matters. Age matters too. At 19, he already looks comfortable taking responsibility, and that is usually the first thing top clubs notice.
Bournemouth transfer stance remains key
Here is the problem for United. Bournemouth do not need to sell now and, more importantly, do not want to. They see Rayan as a major asset for the 2026/27 campaign and there is no obvious pressure point. That changes the entire conversation.
Yes, there is a release clause worth €100m, which is about £87m, but that only becomes active in summer 2027. Until then, Bournemouth control the timing and the fee. If United want to move now, they would need to pay a premium that forces Bournemouth to reconsider. That is how this market works.
