Manchester United are pressing on with plans to strengthen at left-back before the window closes, but the picture around Lewis Hall appears increasingly complicated. According to TeamTalk, United “have not given up on Lewis Hall but are accepting they need to explore alternative left-back targets during the final weeks of the transfer window”.
That line captures the current position neatly. Hall was established as the preferred choice after midfield reinforcements took priority, and there remains genuine admiration for the Newcastle defender at Old Trafford. The report states that “Hall remains highly regarded at Old Trafford and the England international is willing to make the move”. From United’s perspective, that keeps the door ajar.
For now, though, Newcastle are holding their ground. TeamTalk reports that they “have shown no indication that they are prepared to sanction his departure”. As a result, United’s pursuit is effectively paused, with the club understood to have parked interest temporarily while continuing to map the market.
David Raum becomes serious Manchester United option
As United look at alternatives, David Raum has moved into sharper focus. The RB Leipzig left-back has been admired internally for some time and his contractual position adds a practical layer to the interest. TeamTalk says the Germany international is “considered an attractive option given his contract situation”.
There is a compelling financial angle here too. Raum has less than 12 months remaining on his deal, and while a clause of around £34 million exists, the expectation is that a lower figure may be enough. The report adds that “intermediaries believe a deal below £30 million could potentially be negotiated if no new contract is put in place”.
