Morton, now 23, left Liverpool for Lyon in a deal worth an initial £10m, potentially rising to £15m, while the Merseyside club protected themselves with a 20 per cent sell-on clause. The report states that Morton “has become a hugely important player for Paulo Fonseca” and that after Lyon’s first 10 competitive matches, “nobody in the Lyon squad has played more minutes than Morton”.
