Liverpool are reportedly ‘holding key talks’ with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Bradley Barcola, as per transfer expert David Ornstein.
After moving to Parc des Princes from Olympique Lyonnais in 2023, the 23-year-old initially took time to settle into his new surroundings before displaying impressive performances during the 2024/25 campaign.
In 65 appearances across all competitions, he scored 21 goals and registered 20 assists across all competitions. The forward failed to replicate that form last term, making 19 goal contributions in all tournaments.
Barcola has even won three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League trophies and several other major cup competitions in recent years.
Having been impressed by his performances, Liverpool have identified him as a serious option to upgrade the frontline. But they have been struggling to find an agreement with PSG over this deal, with Les Parisiens demanding around £145m to let him leave.
Now, on The Athletic, Ornstein reports that Liverpool are ‘holding key talks’ with PSG today to find clarity over this deal, with the player open to moving to Anfield.
Barcola is a right-footed left winger by trait. He is quick, strong, technically sound, and can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas. Moreover, he is efficient in finishing off his chances, can create opportunities for fellow attackers and works hard without possession.
Barcola to Liverpool
Liverpool currently have Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Federico Chiesa and Victor Munoz as options to deploy on the left flank. However, Chiesa has struggled to showcase his qualities in the Premier League since joining from Juventus.
On the other hand, Gakpo has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur late in this window, while Ngumoha is still very young and his game time needs to be managed carefully to help him reach his full potential.
So, Liverpool could do with signing a new forward. Barcola is a talented player and possesses high potential. Moreover, he possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Liverpool should they purchase him….
