Liverpool are interested in signing the Italian defender Marco Palestra at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old right back is on loan at Cagliari, and he has impressed with them. He will return to his parent club, Atalanta, at the end of the season, but Liverpool is hoping to secure his signature.
According to reports from Spain, Barcelona have now joined them in the race for his signature. Both clubs are monitoring his progress closely, and they are hoping to sign him in the summer.
Liverpool need to add more quality and depth in the right back department. The 21-year-old has shown he can be a reliable defender and help out going forward. He has the attributes to develop into a complete full-back, and Liverpool would do well to secure his signature. He would be a long-term investment for them, and they could groom him into a future star.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are looking to add more quality to their right-back department as well.
Joao Cancelo will leave the club when his loan deal expires, and Jules Kounde is more of a central defender. It is no surprise that the Spanish club is interested in the talented young Italian defender.
Both clubs will be attractive destinations for the 21-year-old, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Liverpool has more financial resources than the Spanish club, which could give them an edge in the race.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old needs to choose his next destination carefully. He should join a club where he has a clear role in the starting lineup. Sitting on the bench will be detrimental to his development.
