Jarrell Miller targets long awaited heavyweight fight after Pero win: “Let’s make it happen”

Jarrell Miller beat Lenier Pero this weekend in Las Vega to keep his dreams of a world champion alive, though he may first look to settle a long-running feud outside of the title picture

The controversial American heavyweight beat Olympian Pero over the distance, throwing an incredible amount of punches on his way to a clear unanimous decision victory.

Though he is now ranked number 1 with the WBA, putting him well in line for a shot at regular champion Murat Gassiev and super champion Oleksandr Usyk, post-fight Miller recognised the appeal of an all-American dust-up with Deontay Wilder.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, ‘Big Baby’ called the fight on.

“I think if the fans call him out enough, they’re gonna want to make that fight happen. Everybody’s saying Deontay’s gonna beat me up, knock me out – there’s only one way to find out. He’s been knocked out plenty of times, I haven’t. Let’s make the fight happen. We’re the two top American heavyweights. We both can make people tune in. Me and my slick talking, him and his weird, dramatic speeches and entrances… I think it’d be entertaining.”

With Miller unlikely to be on Usyk’s radar, as the Ukrainian only has a limited number of fights left before retirement, Wilder presents an opportunity to settle a beef – including big sparring claims and personal grievances – that has been brewing for years.

Wilder revived his career earlier this year with a hard fought win over Derek Chisora, and will likely miss out on an opportunity to fight Anthony Joshua as the Brit focuses on a warm-up fight before facing Tyson Fury.
