Fifteen people rushed to hospital after ‘boat explosion’ in Miami


At least 15 people, including a minor, were taken to the hospital after a boat reportedly exploded at a Miami beach on Saturday. 

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a call about a potential boat explosion at Haulover Beach on Saturday around 1pm. 

The explosion reportedly happened near the sand bar, the Miami Herald reported. 

Upon arrival, firefighters escalated the call to a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident and more than 25 units responded to the call, CBS News reported. 

It is unknown if there are any fatalities or what may have caused the potential explosion. 

Dispatch audio said there were multiple burn victims, with some being found in the water, the Miami Herald said. 

Lifeboats and an air unit is being used by authorities.  

Emergency personnel are still at the scene. Authorities have not confirmed if a boat exploded.
