Derek Chisora names the heavyweight who would give Daniel Dubois his toughest fight

Daniel Dubois announced himself as one of the best heavyweights on the planet with an emphatic second-round stoppage in his rematch with Fabio Wardley, and fellow British heavyweight Derek Chisora has named who he believes could provide ‘Triple D’ with his toughest test.

Dubois bossed proceedings at the O2 Arena on Saturday, pouncing on Wardley from the get-go with ruthless aggression and explosive punch power to score a knockdown just 17 seconds into the contest – from which Wardley never truly recovered.

The Ipswich-based challenger absorbed a gruelling amount of damage in their first encounter five months prior, but the longevity of the punishment was much lesser this time around, as trainer Ben Davison threw in the towel during the second round.

Speaking to Jack Figg, Chisora believes Wardley did not train enough for the fight.

“He didn’t train, let’s be honest, he didn’t train enough, he was not on point.”

“You have to give Fabio his credit because he is a kid from white-collar boxing, he has come in and become a work champion from nothing. He beat Joseph Parker, he has travelled to Riyadh, he became a big star in London, now he works on DAZN. Boxing is done for him.”

‘Del Boy’ then went on to declare that, whilst he doesn’t see anybody defeating Dubois at present, an in-demand rematch with Filip Hrgovic would be the most arduous option for his next outing.

“Right now, I don’t see anybody [beating Daniel Dubois]. Maybe somebody who might give him some trouble would be Hrgovic, but right now nobody can beat him.”

Dubois is expected to return to action in February 2027, but it is unlikely that his next fight will be against Hrgovic, who is currently pencilled in for a title defence on home soil in Croatia against Cuba’s Frank Sanchez.
