Matheus Cunha has hinted that Casemiro could still make a U-turn and stay at Manchester United next season, despite months of speculation linking the veteran midfielder with a summer exit to the MLS.
The Brazilian forward, who recently helped United secure Champions League qualification with a 3-2 victory over Liverpool, has dropped a significant hint that the former Real Madrid star’s time at Old Trafford might not be over just yet.
While Casemiro has been widely expected to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami at the end of the current campaign, Cunha believes there is still a chance for a final twist.

‘You never know’: Cunha drops Casemiro U-turn hint
Speaking after United’s recent success, Cunha was vocal about the influence his compatriot has on the squad.
“I play with him in the national team and I know how important he is. He’s an amazing guy. And yeah, to have this guy in the dressing room is a privilege,” Cunha stated (quotes via The Mirror).
Addressing the rumors of an impending departure, Cunha added:
“We don’t know in the end how it is with his contract, and then of course we, everyone, hopes there’s a little bit more. Of course, I know it’s harder than we talked about, but yeah, in the end, you never know.”
These comments come at a time when Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS sporting team are reportedly looking to streamline the wage bill.
However, Cunha’s public plea highlights the value the 34-year-old still brings to a side that has looked rejuvenated in recent months.
