Levi Colwill’s Chelsea future has come back into focus, but Sky Sports have provided an important clarification around the defender’s contract situation.
Sky Sports News understands “Levi Colwill is not currently in talks over an improved contract at Chelsea, contrary to reports.” That detail matters, particularly given Colwill’s growing importance and his return from a serious ACL injury suffered last pre-season.
Chelsea Contract Position Remains Calm
Colwill’s current agreement runs until 2030, including a club option year. That gives Chelsea considerable protection and explains why there is no immediate urgency.
Sky Sports News add that “discussions could resume in the summer,” but there have reportedly been no talks “since last summer.” Those earlier conversations took place before the injury that disrupted his campaign and temporarily paused his progress.
Chelsea are understood to be “saving new contract talks with players until after the end of the season,” which suggests this is more procedural than problematic.
