Aston Villa are reaching out for an experienced midfielder to help out after they lost a host of starters this summer.

Aston Villa have had one of the most damaging summers of any Premier League teams in terms of their prospects for this upcoming season.
It should all have been so positive – after a great season where they won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League through the league, things were looking rosy.
But an ACL injury to Amadou Onana at the World Cup was just the start of the summer pain for Villa fans. They then sold Youri Tielemans to Man U when his release clause was met, and saw Chelsea swoop for Morgan Rogers.
Even the reliable Lucas Digne has been snapped up by PSG for cheap.
Villa keen to get Palhinha deal wrapped up quickly
Villa have brought players in already, but nobody is quite sure how they will get on. What they need is some experience, and their targeting of Joao Palhinha tells you what they think they’re missing.
The former Fulham man spent a year on loan at Tottenham and did pretty well, but isn’t wanted by Bayern Munich. He should be available at a reasonable price, however, and we expect Villa to try and wrap a move up quickly so he can get integrated fast.
There are only two weeks left until the new season starts.
There is competition for the Portugal international however, mainly from his own country. TeamTalk report that Porto, Sporting and Benfica are all said to want him, although they can’t afford to pay wages like Villa can.
