According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have made an official approach to sign Real Madrid forward Endrick before the transfer deadline on Tuesday night.
The Gunners have made a solitary attacking acquisition in Greek winger Christos Tzolis. The 24-year-old has had a brilliant start to his career with two assists from as many appearances.
Arsenal are still active in the transfer market for another forward. Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez has been heavily linked, but the Argentine has yet to give the green light for a transfer.
Amidst this, talkSPORT claim that the Gunners have made an ‘official approach’ to Madrid for Endrick.
Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has publicly ruled out the departure of the Brazilian youngster, but Arsenal are prepared to test Los Blancos’ resolve for the player before the deadline.
Unlikely
Endrick was largely out of contention at Madrid in the first half of last season, but he managed to turn around his fortunes during his short-term loan stint with Lyon in the French top-flight.
The 20-year-old featured as a right winger and a striker for the Ligue 1 giants. He made 16 goal contributions for Les Gones as they finished fourth in the French top tier after a five-year gap.
Endrick was brilliant for the French side in many aspects. Apart from his goal involvements, he won an average of more than two dribbles per game and was particularly impressive as a number 9.
Arsenal are looking for a creative and mobile striker. Endrick would be a good addition to the ranks due to his huge potential, but Madrid are unlikely to entertain his exit before the deadline next week.
Madrid and Mourinho have collectively decided to keep the youngster in their ranks, as per Fabrizio Romano. Endrick, who is nursing a hamstring injury, also has no intention to leave this summer.
Hence, Arsenal are unlikely to persuade Madrid or the player into a late switch. They may have to turn their attention elsewhere if Alvarez also remains reluctant to return to the Premier League.
The Gunners could ultimately explore a temporary option, ideally with Premier League experience. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford would be a top-class signing on…
