Arsenal have joined the race to sign PSG forward

Bradley Barcola’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain has suddenly become one of the more interesting attacking stories of the summer. A report from L’Équipe states that the 23 year old “could leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season” as PSG consider adding another forward to their squad.

For Arsenal, that matters. The Emirates Stadium is now being discussed as a possible destination, and that alone should sharpen attention in north London.

Barcola remains a gifted, explosive wide forward, but football at PSG rarely allows comfort. L’Équipe report that he has “become more of a backup option for PSG in recent weeks,” largely because Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has become indispensable on the left for the biggest matches.

That is the issue. Barcola is at his most dangerous from the left, driving at defenders, stretching games and attacking space with elegance and speed. Yet if Kvaratskhelia owns that flank, Barcola must either adapt, wait or consider whether his development needs a different stage.

His contract runs until 2028, so PSG are under no immediate pressure. Contract talks are reportedly paused until after the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal, with Barcola’s representatives assuring discussions will follow.

Mikel Arteta’s squad needs more final third variety. Bukayo Saka remains central on the right, Gabriel Martinelli brings intensity on the left, while Leandro Trossard offers intelligence and experience. Yet title winning squads require layers of quality, especially across four competitions.

Barcola would bring acceleration, direct running and Champions League pedigree. At 23, he also fits Arsenal’s age profile. He is not a short term gamble, he is a player…
