Republican nominee for governor in Georgia, Rick Jackson, has warned that he is already in a deep deficit after early voting.
Jackson, 72, a billionaire healthcare CEO, told reporters on Monday that Republican voters needed to turn out in huge numbers on election day if he is going to avoid a humiliating loss.
‘We have a serious issue here,’ he said, per Politico.
‘People can’t solve a problem they’re unaware of. And I think we waited a little bit too late to say: ‘Guys, we have a problem. We can lose this race, and you cannot take it for granted,” Jackson said.
Georgia voters cast over 2.8 million early ballots, which set a new midterms record in the state.
Jackson is facing former mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, in the state’s gubernatorial election, where the Democrat hopes to become the first black female governor in US history.
