While the Brazilian veteran has enjoyed a stellar bounce-back campaign, United’s hierarchy is aggressively scoping out long-term successors.

According to Fogao, the Red Devils have officially made contact with Botafogo regarding their 25-year-old midfield dynamo, Danilo.

Midfielder has prior experience in the Premier League

The energetic midfielder previously spent two-and-a-half years plying his trade with Nottingham Forest before returning to his native Brazil in the summer of 2025 for roughly £21.5 million.

Since pulling on the Botafogo shirt, Danilo has been absolutely electric. He has rapidly evolved from a traditional defensive shield into a dynamic, hybrid midfielder capable of breaking lines and joining the attack with purpose.

His sensational club form, racking up 10 goals and seven assists in nearly 40 appearances across all competitions, recently earned him a highly coveted call-up to the senior Brazil national team.

Naturally, this explosive rise has caught the attention of several European heavyweights.
