Chelsea set to get rejected by Spanish manager Xavi Hernandez

With the incredibly brief and chaotic Liam Rosenior era officially over, the BlueCo hierarchy is back on the hunt for a new permanent boss.

While interim manager Calum McFarlane has done a stellar job steadying the ship and miraculously guiding the Blues to an FA Cup final, the board is working overtime behind the scenes.

Among several managers interested in the Chelsea job, there is one high-profile manager who is not interested in moving to Stamford Bridge and his name is Xavi, according to Football Insider.

Xavi Hernanez is currently without a job

Ever since his highly publicised and messy departure from Camp Nou back in May 2024, Xavi’s name has naturally been floated around whenever a top European job becomes available.

He’s a tactical purist, a serial winner as a player, and someone who completely understands how to manage players with big egos.

However, the Spaniard is not open to becoming the next Chelsea manager since he is only looking for long term projects and he feels that he will not get that at Stamford Bridge.

Even the board has reportedly ruled out a move for the Spaniard, fearing that his lack of Premier League experience makes him too big of a gamble right now.

After watching Rosenior completely struggle at West London due to his lack of experience, the Chelsea hierarchy is desperately prioritising stability.

So, if Xavi is officially off the table, who is actually on it? Another Spaniard, Andoni Iraola, is believed to be the frontrunner for the Chelsea job.

There’s also the romantic angle of bringing in Cesc Fabregas, though whether he fits the “proven” criteria after his stint at Como remains a heavily debated topic in the boardroom.
