Arsenal keeping tabs on Antonio Nusa ahead of winter move

According to The Sun, Arsenal are monitoring the performances of RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa ahead of a possible approach during the winter transfer window.

The Gunners bolstered their wide attacking department with Christos Tzolis last summer and he has proved a fantastic signing with four goal contributions in all competitions under manager Mikel Arteta.

Still, the manager is keen on adding another top-class forward to the squad and The Sun claim that the Gunners are keeping tabs on Nusa ahead of a possible approach at the start of the New Year.

However, Leipzig are unlikely to entertain his mid-season departure and seem prepared to wait until the summer at least as a bidding battle between several clubs could push the winger’s valuation further.

The German side are in a strong financial situation for the season after Yan Diomande’s £120 million move to Real Madrid.

Must buy

The Gunners had an underwhelming transfer window last summer despite some high-profile acquisitions. Ezri Konsa and Bruno Guimaraes were brought in to bolster the defence and midfield respectively.

However, the main requirement was the left wing department where Arsenal could not sufficiently strengthen. They parted ways with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but signed just one player to fill the void in Tzolis.

Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke have impressed occasionally from the left flank this campaign, but Arteta may ideally want someone who can provide serious competition and potentially make the position his own in future.

Nusa would be that candidate. The Norwegian has been in sparkling form for Leipzig this term with 6 goals and 7 assists in just 14 matches. He has also dazzled with his dribbling, winning almost 3 take-ons per appearance.

The Norwegian has worked hard off the ball too with an average of almost 6 duels won per game. Hence, he has the attributes to suit Arsenal’s playing style which requires wide players to be influential on both ends.

The 21-year-old was valued at £51m in the last transfer window, but he has since made huge progress. Arsenal may have to pay £80m to prise him away which they must do in January to avoid more…
