Liverpool remain keen on signing highly rated Brazilian attacker William Gomes from FC Porto, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.
Porto signed the 20-year-old on a permanent deal in January after he emerged as one of São Paulo’s most promising academy prospects.
His performances since his arrival have dispelled concerns about his limited experience, as the attacker has become a first-team regular, making 67 appearances and contributing 20 goals.
His progress was particularly evident in the second half of last season, when he made a considerable impact despite limited opportunities from the start. The Brazilian featured in the Primeira Liga starting XI only nine times in 28 games but still found the net eight times and registered an assist. He averaged a goal every 146 minutes and ended the campaign with 15 goal involvements across all competitions.
In the ongoing campaign, Gomes has been a fundamental part of Francesco Farioli’s unbeaten start to the season, where they sit in first place. The Brazilian has played in all eight games, netting twice and providing two assists, with his displays catching the eye of several clubs, including Liverpool.
This is according to A Bola, which claims that the Reds have placed Gomes among their shortlist of potential targets for their attack.

However, the 20-year-old only recently extended his contract with Porto until 2031, with his release clause rising from £67 to £84m, according to the report, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Liverpool would be willing to trigger his valuation heading into the 2027 transfer window.
Liverpool have only netted seven goals in the opening five Premier League games of the season. Barcola is yet to open his account for the club, while Munoz’s strike against…
