Despite having a strong squad depth, Arsenal continue to explore opportunities in the transfer market for new signings and have now identified a defensive profile, with competition with Liverpool likely to ensue next year.
Ekrem Konur has reported that the Gunners are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Jarell Quansah. After having an initial bid turned down for the defender, it is expected that the Bundesliga side will let him go for roughly 64 million.
Liverpool, who sold Quansah to the German outfit in 2025, hold a buyback clause, according to the journalist, but it remains to be seen how much that amount is. However, it would not be a surprise if the Reds also strongly consider the Englishman’s purchase.

Arsenal had kept tabs on Jarell Quansah since earlier in the summer and with the January transfer window just over three months away, it is not a surprise that they are showing interest in the 23-year-old’s services once more.
Jurrien Timber spent much of the summer injured and has yet to gain full match fitness, while Ben White’s future at the club has been speculated every now and then. The former Brighton & Hove Albion star also offers very little going forward.
Quansah, as a result, would be a terrific signing for the Gunners. Besides his height of six feet and three inches, the Bayer Leverkusen centre back is also a effective right back, who carries the ball well, has rapid pace and plays accurate progressive passes.
Without the ball, he is strong in one-on-one situations and aerially, while also reading the game very well to thwart the opposition. However, Liverpool might hold the upper hand over Arsenal for his signing.
Considering Virgil van Dijk’s age, Jeremie Frimpong’s form at right back and a general lack of depth in defence, the Reds could be open to bringing their former player back to Anfield after a productive time in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.
Quansah might also be more receptive towards joining Liverpool over Arsenal as he would play more regularly on Merseyside compared to London, where there is already a significant competition for minutes…
