Man United prepare Lewis Hall transfer approach

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to test Newcastle United’s resolve over left-back Lewis Hall before the end of the summer transfer window.

Hall has been a top target for the Red Devils for some time now, but it seems a deal currently looks unlikely due to Newcastle’s valuation.

Although Man Utd seemingly plan to look at Hall again, a deal is currently likely to cost £70m, which is probably going to be too expensive, according to TEAMtalk.

The 21-year-old would become the most expensive left-back ever if he were to move for that price, and it seems United are unlikely to pay that kind of money.

Newcastle need to fight to keep Lewis Hall

It’s hard to imagine Newcastle will lower their asking price for Hall, with the club surely in a strong position now after making so much money from other player sales this summer.

The Magpies have sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, Sandro Tonali to Tottenham, and Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal in big-money deals.

More sales would be hugely unpopular and it’s now hard to justify it from a financial perspective, so United will likely have to pay the huge fee if they really want to get this deal done.

Lewis Hall should stay on Man Utd’s radar

Even if MUFC can’t sign Hall this summer, the talented young Englishman should surely still be a long-term target for them.

Luke Shaw is ageing and past his best, and it’s hard to think of a better long-term replacement than Hall for that position.

Still, United might also decide they need to move fast and sign someone this summer, which could mean moving on to other targets if Hall isn’t available.
