The Stars Group Goes Live in Pennsylvania with FOX Bet App

Winners 15

The Stars Group rolled out on Thursday its FOX Bet app in Pennsylvania just in time for last night’s NFL Kickoff Game that saw the Green Bay Packers smother the Chicago Bears.

FOX Bet soft-launched yesterday so that final tests are conducted on the app by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, but its full launch is imminent.

The app is available for download on Android and iOS and is the fifth digital betting product to go live in Pennsylvania since the legalization of athletic gambling in the state. FOX Bet follows the launch of Rush Street Gaming’s PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers products and of Parx Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Stars Group was able to go live with a sports betting product on the territory of Pennsylvania under a previously inked deal with Mount Airy Casino. A physical sportsbook is currently under development at the property and is expected to open doors soon.

Aside from football, the FOX Bet app provides bettors with the opportunity to wager on a wide array of other sports, including baseball, hockey, tennis, soccer, golf, and motor sports among others.

The Stars Group’s Alignment with FOX Sports

In May this year, The Stars Group secured a mighty partner in its US sports betting expansion effort. The major online gambling operator signed a “first-of-its-kind national media and sports wagering partnership in the United States” with FOX Sports.

Under the terms of the deal, FOX Sports has agreed to provide The Stars Group with an exclusive license to some of its trademarks and with editorial integration rights on some of its broadcast media and digital assets.

Of course, the 25-year agreement between the major gambling group and the sports programming giant also includes the establishment of the FOX Bet sports betting brand.

The launch of the FOX Bet app in Pennsylvania followed the roll-out of the product in neighboring New Jersey earlier this week. The Stars Group actually operated a BetStars app in the Garden State, but that one did not gain much traction in the local market that has been dominated by DFS turned sports betting operators FanDuel and DraftKings.

The new FOX Bet app in New Jersey is actually the rebranded and revamped BetStars app. The Stars Group hopes that the refurbished product that is supported by the media giant would help it claim a larger share in the state’s booming mobile betting market.

The Penn National Deal

The Stars Group will be able to further extend its US footprint with a recent multi-year deal with casino operator Penn National Gaming. The company penned a 20-year agreement with Penn National under the terms of which the online gambling operator will be able to gain access to multiple states where the casino operator manages brick-and-mortar properties.

The partnership covers Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, New Mexico, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas and enables The Stars Group to operate and brand real-money online betting, poker, and casino offerings in each of the states subject to license availability, local laws and regulatory approvals.
