Paris Saint-Germain will challenge Stade Rennais this Sunday (8:45 p.m.) at the end of the 19th day of Ligue 1. The Parisian club, which hopes to maintain its lead over RC Lens and OM, has often lost points at Roazhon Park in recent years.
In difficulty since the resumption in Ligue 1, the Parisian club hopes to revive the machine this Sunday against the Breton club. Winners in the pain of Strasbourg (2-1) at the end of December, the players of Christophe Galtier were then beaten at Bollaert by RC Lens (1-3) on January 1 before going to win with difficulty at Châteauroux in 32nd of final of the Coupe de France last weekend (3-1). This trip to Rennes will have to be taken very seriously by PSG, which has not won in the Championship in Brittany for three games (two defeats and a draw). Bruno Genesio’s players, often in difficulty outside, remain on the other hand on an impressive series of eight consecutive victories at home in Ligue 1.

Genesio aims to win
In a press conference, the Rennes coach took the example of RC Lens and past performances against PSG to motivate his players. “But it’s another context, without taking away any merit from the Lensois. It is also another context compared to our victory last season (2-0). When we have already beaten PSG, it gives confidence, it shows that we are capable of doing it again, but it will be completely different. he acknowledged.
Absentees on both sides
For this meeting, Stade Rennais will be without Martin Terrier and Xeka, both seriously injured, but also Warmed Omari and Benjamin Bourigeaud, suspended. “There are two ways of looking at it, said Genesio. Either we complain, or we do with different players, but who also have strengths. It’s up to us to find the right associations. Above all, we will have to be strong collectively”, explained Genesio. PSG must deal with the absences of Marco Verratti (right quadriceps), Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles tendon) and Nuno Mendes (thigh). Achraf Hakimi and Kylian Mbappé, who returned from vacation on Thursday, are on the other hand in the group.
