The January transfer window is open for business and Newcastle United may yet join the party by adding to their squad before the end of the month.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe could want to strengthen his side to improve their chances of holding on to a Champions League spot between now and the end of the campaign.

One area in which the club could upgrade in is their options in the wide areas, as they currently have a number of players who have struggled in those positions.

Ryan Fraser has failed to produce a single goal or assist in eight Premier League appearances this term and only managed five direct goal contributions in 27 top-flight matches last season.

Howe must now reignite the club’s interest in Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma this month as the winger arriving at St. James’ Park could allow Fraser to depart.

Earlier this season, Calciomercatoweb reported that Newcastle and Chelsea were both interested in signing the forward.

The Daily Mail recently claimed that Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Everton are among the clubs keen on a deal for Danjuma, who is available on a loan deal due to a ‘breakdown in relations’ with some of his teammates.

Chronicle Live previously revealed that the £22m winger admires Howe and is still on good terms with the English head coach after their time together at Bournemouth in the Premier League.
