The January transfer window has little more than a week left before it slams shut and Newcastle United are yet to make their first senior addition of the month.
Garang Kuol arrived on a permanent deal from Central Coast Mariners at the start of January and the 18-year-old has since been sent out on loan to Hearts in the Premiership.
This means that Dan Ashworth has not added to Eddie Howe’s squad to bolster the side heading into the second half of the season but the Magpies chief still has time left to change that before the end of the month.
Newcastle have allowed striker Chris Wood, who only joined the club from Burnley at this time last year, to sign for fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest on loan and that leaves a gap in the squad for attacking reinforcements to come in.

The Sun recently reported that the Magpies are interested in a swoop to sign Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a £35m deal this month, although they are prepared to wait until the summer if they need to.
It was stated that the Toffees are preparing for offers for their number nine and that it is expected that the forward will want to leave Goodison Park if they are relegated to the Championship at the end of the campaign.
Would Calvert-Lewin be good signing for Newcastle?
