The future of several Juventus players is currently a popular topic for the Italian media, and the latest report from Gazzetta dello Sport has provided some insight on four names.
First of all, Juventus will not sell Kenan Yildiz. With four years left on his current contract and the Bianconeri keen to tie him down to a new one soon, the Turkey international is seen as one of the key components of their squad for years to come. However, the situation is different when it comes to Francisco Conceicao, Pierre Kalulu and Khephren Thuram.
Conceicao is on the radar of Liverpool, who are preparing to say goodbye to Mohamed Salah. No player can, of course, replace the iconic Egyptian like-for-like, but it’s obvious a younger, left-footed right winger will be needed in their squad, and at the age of 23, Conceicao fits the bill. It is the context needed to understand Liverpool’s interest in a winger with just seven goal contributions (four goals, three assists) across 34 appearances in all competitions this season.
At the moment, the Portugal international insists his focus lies with Juventus finishing the season as strongly as possible, but he hasn’t said anything about what comes after.
Liverpool have also been credited with interest in Thuram in the past, but more recent reports mention Manchester United as well. United are widely reported to be looking for midfield reinforcements, preparing for the imminent departure of Casemiro, which apparently could be followed by that of captain Bruno Fernandes as well.
There is little doubt that both United and Liverpool need a player like Thuram. The 25-year-old France international is a versatile midfielder, quite capable of causing trouble for opposition defenders when further up the pitch, though he is arguably most effective when deployed in a deeper role.
There has been interest in Kalulu from the Premier League too, but Juventus rejected all approaches in the past. That could change now, if a suitable offer for the services of the 25-year-old defender arrives.
Kalulu is also able to perform in more than one position. Predominantly a centre-back, he is often used on the right defensive flank…
