According to Sky Sport Italia, Manchester City and Chelsea have both contacted the player’s entourage. Yet neither Premier League club has formally opened negotiations with Atalanta. The reason is simple. Palestra already knows where he wants to be.

Their offer of €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses is substantial, although Atalanta remain firm in demanding at least €50 million before any add ons are discussed.
More importantly, the player’s preference is shaping proceedings.

Premier League Giants Watching Closely
Manchester City and Chelsea rarely make enquiries without serious interest.
Chelsea’s involvement appears linked to plans following Marc Cucurella’s reported €60 million move to Real Madrid. Meanwhile, City continue to scan Europe for technically gifted, versatile young players.

Still, there is no sense of urgency from either English club.
Palestra’s rise has been remarkable. Winning Serie A Defender of the Year in 2025/26 while contributing one goal and four assists in 37 appearances for Cagliari has accelerated his reputation enormously.
