Chelsea’s summer planning could take a significant turn if Dean Huijsen becomes available, with Sports Boom reporting that Xabi Alonso is ready to urge the club to pursue the Real Madrid defender.
The 21-year-old was described as Alonso’s “first new signing” at Real Madrid, and that connection appears important. Despite Alonso’s difficult exit from the Bernabeu, his relationship with Huijsen is said to have “remained intact”.

The report states Huijsen is “comfortable in possession, a progressive passer of the ball and combative when required”, which fits the type of defender Alonso would want if he implements a back three at Stamford Bridge.
That matters. Chelsea have invested heavily in young talent, yet Alonso is reportedly keen to add more experience and leadership. Huijsen would be an exception because his ceiling is so high and his profile so specific.
Sports Boom also note his “£60m valuation still represents good value” given his development across Juventus, Roma, Bournemouth and Real Madrid.
