Kobbie Mainoo will stay at Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kobbie Mainoo will not leave Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has reported that Man United interim-manager Michael Carrick trusts the England international midfielder.

Romano wrote on X: “Kobbie Mainoo now expected to stay at Manchester United after instant trust by Michael Carrick.

“Mainoo was considering loan move to play on regular basis and develop, never a permanent exit from #MUFC.

“His contract situation will remain key topic in the next months.”

Mainoo has made one start and 12 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Man Utd so far this season. The 20-year-old has also played once in the Carabao Cup and once in the FA Cup for the Red Devils this campaign. Man United currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 35 points from 22 matches, a point behind fourth-placed and defending champions Liverpool.
