Andy Ruiz Jr. has revealed his four-fight wish list as he looks to end two years of inactivity.
The 36-year-old has not fought since facing Jarrell Miller in August 2024, when many felt he was fortunate to come away with a 12-round draw.
Prior to that, Ruiz had claimed just two victories – both unanimous decisions against Luis Ortiz and Chris Arreola – following his rematch with Anthony Joshua in 2019.
Back then, the American was coming off the performance of his life, having scored a monumental upset to dethrone ‘AJ’ with a stunning seventh-round finish earlier that year.
For their rematch, though, Ruiz tipped the scales at a considerable 283lbs and ultimately suffered a wide unanimous decision defeat.
This lack of discipline has contributed to many of his problems, with head coach Manny Robles having openly accused ‘The Destroyer’ of neglecting his training.
But now, it would appear that Ruiz is eager to reinvent himself under Robles, telling talkSPORT that he hopes to secure fights with both Tyson Fury and Joshua.
Along with them, Ruiz has also named fellow American Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk as desirable opponents, both for entirely different reasons.
“Before I retire, I want all these fights in [the next] two years. I want Tyson Fury; I want the trilogy [bout] with Anthony Joshua. I want to beat up chicken legs Wilder, because that fight was supposed to be made so many years ago.
“I want to fight Usyk, just because I have so much respect for him. One time they mentioned my name, but he fought someone else.”
Among the four heavyweights, Wilder perhaps makes the most sense, given his history with Ruiz and the fact it is a high-profile matchup in America.
