Joshua Buatsi and Willy Hutchinson collide this evening in a battle for the vacant WBC light heavyweight title.
The belt is up for grabs after WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion David Benavidez relinquished the gold in order to remain at 200lbs, with Buatsi and Hutchinson given the chance to become the new champion when they meet at the AO Arena in Manchester.
It is a rematch from when the duo fought at Wembley Stadium in London back in September 2024, where Buatsi dropped Hutchinson on two occasions on his way to a split decision win.
Since that victory, Buatsi was on the wrong end of a fight of the year contender against Callum Smith in February 2025, but returned to winning ways last time out with a controversial majority decision win over Zach Parker.
As for Hutchinson, his last two outings have seen him claim a stoppage win over Mark Jeffers, before a unanimous decision victory against Ezra Taylor in March, and he’ll now be looking for revenge tonight.

Joshua Buatsi vs Willy Hutcinson fight result
Hutchinson UD 117-112, 115-113, 115-113. Willy Hutchinson gets the win on points to become the new WBC light heavyweight champion. Hutchinson dominated the early portion of the fight, showing superior speed to counter Buatsi, who had a surprisingly slow start and struggled to get a real foothold in the bout until after the halfway stage. The further the fight went on, Buatsi did come back into it more, and ended the bout the stronger of the two men, but Hutchinson’s early lead and better work from the offset was enough to earn him the win and become Britain’s latest world champion.
