Arsenal preparing formal offer to sign Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid

Arsenal are preparing a formal offer to sign Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz in January, according to Fichajes.

The Gunners remain committed to strengthening their frontline to defend their Premier League crown and go the distance in other competitions, particularly the UEFA Champions League.

Last summer, the club made ambitious efforts towards bolstering that area and reportedly saw their moves for Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Jr fall through.

Although Christos Tzolis, who joined from Club Brugge, has been impressive, replicating the prolific form that saw him record over 50 goal contributions last season would be difficult, as the Premier League is much more difficult than the Jupiler Pro League.

Arsenal’s need for additional attacking depth was further heightened by Bukayo Saka’s recent injury in the UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, which Mikel Arteta says ‘doesn’t look good at all’.

As a result, Fichajes now reports that Arsenal have earmarked Diaz as their primary target for the January transfer window.

‘Incredible’ attacker

It appears the Gunners are planning to launch a swoop swiftly, as the Spanish outlet claims that the Premier League champions are preparing to submit a formal £50m offer to sign the 27-year-old at the request of Arteta, who values his ability to cover different positions and as a strong competitor with Christos Tzolis and Eberechi Eze.

In a boost to Arsenal, Madrid could allow Diaz, described as ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola, to depart, with Fichajes adding that Jose Mourinho is open to sanctioning the Spanish-born Moroccan international’s departure to recoup funds to sign a playmaking midfielder.

Bukayo Saka lasted just 10 minutes of Arsenal’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena before being withdrawn, with Eberechi Eze coming on in his place due to a quad problem.

The England international had featured from the start in all seven of Arsenal’s Premier League fixtures this season, alongside two of their three Champions League outings.

His injury will be a major blow to Arteta, who will also be without Tzolis ahead of Saturday’s clash…
