Frank Bruno u-turns on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua prediction: “He’s more skilful than people think”

British heavyweight duo Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally collide the Principality Stadium in Cardiff this December, and fellow former British heavyweight ruler Frank Bruno has provided an updated prediction for the contest.

Fury’s call-out of Joshua – following his victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov – breathed new life in the long-awaited battle back in April, with both of them spending 2026 more-or-less dedicated to negotiating and preparing for their eventual meeting.

When talks were progressing well, prior to their respective ‘warm-up’ bouts against Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga, where neither man impressed, Bruno declared his belief that ‘old age has caught up with Fury’, seemingly going against ‘The Gypsy King’.

“It will be a good fight, I think that it is definitely going to go on, but I think that old age is catching up with Tyson Fury. Even his Dad says that, [about his] old age. I hope that he does very, very well.

“He has got the survival skills you know, Tyson, but Joshua is a very good puncher – if he believes in himself. If he goes in there believing in himself, it is going to be a hard fight for Tyson.

“We need it, it is good for boxing.”

However, after witnessing Joshua twice be floored by Albania’s Prenga, Bruno has now told OOOSCH TV that he ‘cannot see’ an ‘AJ win.

“If AJ can get there first he will do a number [on Fury], but I I can’t see it because Tyson Fury is a very tricky customer, he can fight and once he fancies something, he is a dangerous guy.

“[Joshua] has got to rely on it [his power], but how many times has Tyson been on the floor and how many times has he got up?

“Deontay Wilder was an animal and he had him under control, Tyson Fury. I have always rated Tyson Fury, he has got a lot more skill than a lot of people give him credit for and he has got a lot of bottle.”

Fury-Joshua is scheduled to go ahead in Cardiff on Friday, December 11, with Manny Pacquiao currently being targeted for an appearance on the undercard, as well as a heavyweight showdown between Jai Opetaia and Deontay Wilder.
