Liverpool could reportedly pursue Manchester City attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki if Florian Wirtz’s situation at Anfield doesn’t improve in the coming months.

The German international arrived at Liverpool in a club-record deal from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025, with the Reds investing heavily in a player expected to become the creative heartbeat of their team. However, Wirtz has struggled to reproduce the outstanding form that made him one of Europe’s most sought-after attacking midfielders.

Florian Wirtz faces crucial Liverpool season

The 23-year-old still has plenty of time to turn things around, and Liverpool remain committed to helping him rediscover his best form. Reports indicate the club is not currently planning to sell him, despite growing speculation about his future.

That possibility could encourage Liverpool to keep alternative options under consideration, with Rayan Cherki emerging as an intriguing name.

Liverpool previously wanted the Manchester City star before he completed his move to the Etihad, and the Reds are reportedly ready to revisit their interest if circumstances make him available. Clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on Cherki as well.
