Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup when they take on Brighton at Old Trafford tonight.
The Red Devils come into the game off the back of a hugely controversial 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend. Erling Haaland’s ‘goal’ was wrongly allowed to stand by the VAR team and it turned out to be the only goal of the game.
However, United’s performance against 10-man City wasn’t good enough so Michael Carrick will be demanding an improved display against Brighton this evening.
Carrick has made eight changes from the side that started on Sunday with Karl Darlow replacing Senne Lammens in goal. Diogo Dalot keeps his place at right-back but otherwise the back four is rotated with Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui coming in for Harry Magurie, Lisandro Martinez and Patrick Dorgu.
Youri Tielemans keeps his place in midfield but Andrey Santos is recalled to start in the middle of the park for Man Utd tonight. Kobbie Mainoo makes way while captain Bruno Fernandes is also given a rest with Mason Mount recalled.
Youngster Shea Lacey gets another chance to impress while Benjamin Sesko is also recalled to start in attack. Marcus Rashford keeps his place so Mathues Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo drop out.
As for Brighton, they make plenty of change as well with Luke Steele starting in goal while Luka Vuskovic lines-up in defence. Jaouen Hadjam gets a run-out in midfield while Charalampos Kostoulas leads the line up front.
