Chelsea and Manchester City have been named as the clubs likely to have shown a strong interest in signing Adam Wharton during the summer.
Crystal Palace will be delighted to have held on to an important player like Wharton, and it seems they rejected bids for the England international in the most recent transfer window.
That’s according to the Guardian, who state that the bids came from unnamed clubs, though it’s implied that Chelsea and Man City’s strong interest likely means they were the ones to come in with offers.
Still, we’ve also previously been informed that Liverpool were interested in Wharton, and one imagines there are plenty of other top clubs who would gladly have him.
Adam Wharton staying at Crystal Palace for now
Palace have done well to keep Wharton, especially in a transfer window when midfielders were among some of the biggest movers.

Manchester United signed three new players in that position, bringing in Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans, and Andrey Santos.
Meanwhile, City may have missed out on Wharton but strengthened with Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernandez, and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Tottenham also splashed the cash on two new signings in midfield – Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Wharton is arguably as good, if not better, than most of those players mentioned, with Arsenal’s Declan Rice praising him as “outstanding”, as per Palace’s official site, so the Eagles can count themselves very lucky that they didn’t lose the 22-year-old.
