According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Bournemouth forward Junior Kroupi will almost certainly be an option for Arsenal during the January transfer window.
The Gunners had a good summer transfer window, but there will be some disappointment over their inability to land a marquee left winger. The likes of Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Vinicius Junior were linked with moves, but the Gunners eventually settled for a solitary signing in the position in Christos Tzolis.
Tzolis has made a good start to his Arsenal career, but the club’s faithful would have wanted a more high-profile solution after multiple exits. Leandro Trossard was sold to Besiktas shortly his World Cup campaign, while Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal are on the verge of announcing Gabriel Martinelli’s arrival.
Delaney now claims that Arsenal may have to re-enter the transfer market for a top quality forward in January, particularly with the injury record of Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in recent years. The reputed journalist believes Kroupi will ‘almost certainly’ be an option for the Gunners at the turn of the year.
Huge potential
Kroupi is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing. He had a brilliant debut season with the Cherries last campaign, registering 13 goals from 33 Premier League appearances. The Frenchman was a regular substitute earlier in the season, but played a prominent role after Antoine Semenyo made the switch to Manchester City in January this year.
The youngster ended the season as the highest-scoring teenager in the English top-flight. He had an impressive shot-to-goal conversion rate of 25% in the division and missed just 3 big chances. Hence, he is a player with immense potential. Kroupi is presently out for another 3 months with a foot injury sustained during Bournemouth’s pre-season camp in Austria in July.
